Request by Mosdot Shuva Israel Synagogue for a “No Parking Anytime” sign at 122 East 58th Street, on the south side of East 58th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues.
At the regularly scheduled monthly Community Board Five meeting on Thursday, February 09, 2023, the following resolution passed with a vote of 33 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining:
WHEREAS, The Applicant, Mosdot Shuva Israel Synagogue, seeks the installation of a “No Parking Anytime” sign in front of the building’s entrance, which is located on the south side of East 58th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant poses that the building’s Yeshiva, in addition to the main Synagogue, requires student pickups and drop-offs which are made complicated and difficult when there are cars parked directly front of the building; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant posed that “No Parking Anytime” is appropriate because of the number of courses and events that take place in the evening and at different times of day; and
WHEREAS, The current street signage for the zone permits 3-hour commercial vehicle parking Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and metered parking Monday through Saturday 6 p.m. through midnight; and
WHEREAS, The “No Parking Anytime” zone would be the length of a single parking space and used for the purpose of facilitating pick-ups and drop-offs for the Applicant's synagogue services and educational programs; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant posted notices of the Application on the block and delivered notices of the Application to other businesses on the block, as requested by Community Board Five; and
WHEREAS, No significant objections were raised by members of the community at committee; and
WHEREAS, The only written response received by the Applicant was from a neighboring business which did not object to the Application; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five finds no significant objection to the request for a “No Parking Anytime” sign at the entrance to 122 East 58th Street, being a single parking space in length, to be located on the south side of East 58th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues.
