Application from Madison Square Park Conservancy for “Take C.H.A.R.G.E.”, a promotional event for Jaguar Health, on Monday, May 23rd, 2022
WHEREAS, Madison Square Park Conservancy (the "Applicant") is proposing to host a launch event on Monday, May 23rd, 2022 for Jaguar Health called Take C.H.A.R.G.E., to introduce a canine cancer health registry exchange; and
WHEREAS, Jaguar Health will be compensating Applicant with a significant amount of money, as the one of the four contractually allowable marketing events in this park permitted by the NYC Parks Dept.; and
WHEREAS, The event will inform visitors about measures by the veterinary community to track cancer incidents in dogs; and
WHEREAS, Between the hours of 12:30 and 2:30 they will have remarks from speakers and 40 - 45 minutes of musical performances from Broadway performers; and
WHEREAS, They will be distributing water and branded canine give-aways such as water bowls and bandanas to the public; and
WHEREAS, The presentation will be held in the gravel area at the South West portion of the Park and will not interfere with pedestrian walkways; and
WHEREAS, They will be setting up a stage and viewing area measuring approximately 101' X 74' X 44' X 69' X 7'; and
WHEREAS, The setup for the event will commence at 11pm on Sunday, May 22; with the Event to begin at 9am on Monday, May 23rd and run until 7pm with cleanup to end at 11pm; and
WHEREAS, Applicant will be conducting a sound check between 9:30 and 10:30 to ensure proper decibel levels for the event; and
WHEREAS, The estimated attendance is expected to be about 500 persons; and
WHEREAS, The stage area measures 44' wide with 2 LED 72 inch screens attached vertically to each end; and
WHEREAS, All signage will be confined to the event area; and
WHEREAS, Applicant is extremely concerned with the minimization of decibels from the M32r Mixer and microphone sound system, and has committed to not using a subwoofer, as sound is designed to be heard within a radius of 50 to 100 feet from the stage, and all accompanying music will be keyboards only with no other instruments or percussion; and
WHEREAS, Although the event will be powered by a generator, Applicant is employing the quietest model with the lowest amount of impact; and
WHEREAS, Two to three persons are assigned to make sure that any sanitation issues are properly addressed; and
WHEREAS, Any filming of the event which might include the public will be handled only with the written releases of said individual(s); and
WHEREAS, Community Board Five believes that the nature and conduct of the event as proposed is consistent with its past approvals; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application from Madison Square Park Conservancy for “Take C.H.A.R.G.E.”, a promotional event for Jaguar Health, on Monday, May 23rd, 2022
