Application from Extant Marketing, on behalf of New Jersey Division of Travel & Tourism, for “Boost Your Mood,” a Promotional Event in Herald Square Park from June 21, 2022 to June 23, 2022
WHEREAS, Extant Marketing (the “Applicant”) has proposed a promotional event “Boost Your Mood” (the “Event”) on behalf of New Jersey Division of Travel & Tourism to take place in Herald Square Park (the “Park”) from 9:30am to 7:30pm from Tuesday June 21, 2022 to Thursday, June 23, 2022; and
WHEREAS, The Event is an initiative to support tourism for the State of New Jersey and the many wide-open, outdoor spaces where individuals can get out of the city to “boost your mood”; and
WHEREAS, Load-in and load-out for the Event will take place on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 10pm and Thursday June 23, 2022 between 7pm and 10pm, respectively; and
WHEREAS, The Event has an expected attendance of 50 people at one given time as the event is tailored to engage pedestrians who are passing by; and
WHEREAS, The Event will take place in the center of the park estimating to take approximately 30 feet by 30 feet of floor area; and
WHEREAS, The Event signage will be limited to 3 large cubes with some 3D elements that each measure 8 feet tall and 7 feet wide and 3 small portable signs displaying outdoor activities in New Jersey and general event information, respectively; and
WHEREAS, The Event activity space will be limited to a 20’ by 20’ space for guided yoga and meditation sessions that will occur approximately 6 times per day with a maximum expected attendance of 10-15 people; and
WHEREAS, The Event will use 1 small self-contained speaker to play ambient music and guide visitors through the guided yoga and meditation sessions; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant has committed to working with the 34th Street Partnership to ensure that pedestrian traffic flow is minimally impacted during the event to allow the circulation of pedestrians; and
WHEREAS, The Event will be staffed by 8 people, including 5 event staff, 1 producer, 1 assistant producer, and 1 24 hour security guard; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application from Extant Marketing, on behalf of New Jersey Division of Travel & Tourism, for “Boost Your Mood,” a Promotional Event in Herald Square Park from June 21, 2022 to June 23, 2022.
