Application by Monster Energy Drink for a marketing event in Greeley Square on April 16th, 2019
WHEREAS, Monster Energy Drink ("Applicant") submitted a permit application to hold a marketing event in Greeley Square on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 (the “Event”); and
WHEREAS, The Applicant will be marketing the launch of lines of its energy drinks; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant will be holding the event in a 10’ x 10’ inflatable tent, with a parked, branded truck and will potentially have celebrity appearances; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant will provide free samples of its energy drinks free of change; and
WHEREAS, The Applicant informed Community Board Five that the Event would be cancelled and as such, did not attend the required public hearing to present their application for review; and
WHEREAS, Subsequent to the day of the required public hearing, the Applicant informed that Community Board Five that the Application will proceed; however, the Applicant had not attending the required public hearing and therefore denied the opportunity for public review of the application; and
WHEREAS, Community Board Five takes its role in the review of applications for special events in our parks seriously and substantively reviews the applications in order to provide input to the Parks Department; and
WHEREAS, Because of the failure by the Applicant to participate in this review process, Community Board Five and the public in general were denied the opportunity to learn about this event, ask questions, and provide input, resulting in an automatic denial pursuant to Community Board Five policy; therefore,

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application by Monster energy drink
for a marketing event in Greeley Square on April 16th, 2019.
