Application by local residents for a designation of alternate side parking to accommodate street cleaning on West 24th Street, between 6th Avenue and Broadway
WHEREAS, The residents of West 24th Street between 6th Ave and Broadway seek a designation for alternate side parking to accommodate street cleaning on the block; and
WHEREAS, This block of West 24th St does not currently receive street cleaning by the New York City Department of Sanitation; and
WHEREAS, This block has seen a recent increase in restaurant activity and regular street cleaning has become a necessity; and
WHEREAS, The proposed designation would require the removal of limited commercial parking; and
WHEREAS, Community Board Five recognizes the need for clean streets for both residents and commercial enterprises; and
WHEREAS, There was tremendous support for the proposal from members of the community; and
WHEERAS, There were no objections presented to this proposal; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application for alternate side parking on West 24th Street between 6th Avenue and Broadway to accommodate street cleaning on the block; and further be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five encourages the Department of Sanitation to schedule late night street cleaning on the block.
