Newsstand application (#1404-2017-ANWS) at the NEC of West 51st Street and 7th Avenue.
WHEREAS, The applicant seeks a permit to install and operate a newsstand on the NEC of West 51st Street and 7th Avenue, across from 148 West 51st Street; and
WHEREAS, The proposed newsstand would be located in a heavily congested area and create numerous obstructions; and
WHEREAS, The proposed newsstand would create an unnecessary burden on pedestrian flow; and
WHEREAS, The applicant acknowledged the need to attend the public hearing and post notification in the community, and did neither; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application to install a newsstand at the northeast corner of West 51st Street and 7th Avenue; and be it further
RESOLVED, Recognizing that the cost of applying for a newsstand is very high for small business owners and operators, Community Board Five continues to request that DCA refund the fee for this application and all applications that are denied.
