Application from LeadDog Marketing Group for “Ben and Jerry's Cereal Splashback,” a special event in Union Square Park on Tuesday, March 7, 2017
WHEREAS, LeadDog Marketing Group ("Applicant") has submitted a permit application to hold "Ben and Jerry's Cereal Splashback," a special event in Union Square Park on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 8:00AM to 4:00PM; and
WHEREAS, The event will be feature a custom tented ball pit, marketing materials, free samples, and amplified sound, with an estimated attendance of 500 people; and
WHEREAS, Applicant failed to answer questions and submit the associated documentation and plans along with the Community Board Five Questionnaire; and
WHEREAS, Applicant was requested to appear at a public hearing on Monday, January 30, 2017 to present their application for review, yet failed to attend; and
WHEREAS, Community Board Five takes its role in the review of applications for special events in our parks seriously and substantively reviews the applications in order to provide input to the Parks Department; and
WHEREAS, Because of the failure by the Applicant to participate in this review process, Community Board Five and the public in general were denied the opportunity to learn about this event, ask questions, and provide input, resulting in an automatic denial pursuant to Community Board Five policy; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application from LeadDog Marketing Group for "Ben and Jerry's Cereal Splashback," a special event in Union Square Park on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
