Newsstand Application # 15553-2015-ANWS, NWC 15th Street and Union Square West, IFO 5 East 15thStreet

WHEREAS, The applicant seeks a permit to install and operate a newsstand on the north side of 15^th street at the corner of Union Square West; and

WHEREAS, The proposed location is in front of heavily trafficked area that has several convenient stores nearby; and

WHEREAS, The proposed newsstand may obstruct pedestrian traffic under current usage levels, especially given the close proximity to the green market that occurs on this block; and

WHEREAS, The Union Square BID and the property owners directly adjacent to said location are adamantly opposed to the newsstand; therefore be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application to install a newsstand on 15^th Street and Union Square West.
