RED Pop-Up Shop, a shop in Bryant Park that will display products available for sale online as part of the brand's Shopathon campaign. The shop would open November 22nd and run through December 5th
WHEREAS, Octagon ("Applicant"), on behalf of Bank of America, has submitted an application to hold "RED Pop-Up Shop," an installed booth showcasing online catalogue purchases for the ecommerce event, Shopathon, whose proceeds fund RED, a group working to raise awareness and funds to help eliminate HIV/AIDS, on the Upper Terrace of Bryant Park from November 22nd to December 4th, 2016; and
WHEREAS, The event will consist of a vendor booth housing stations where members of the public can access the online catalogue, with no sales or products actually occurring on site; and
WHEREAS, There will be no amplified sound, no sanitation impact, and no signage other than the RED and Bank of America logo on the outside of the booth; and
WHEREAS, Although applicant has made every effort to supply Community Board Five with engineer's plans and all other relevant information, the event permit submission occurred too late for the proper public review of the application; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application from Octagon for "Red Pop-Up Shop" in Bryant Park from November 22 through December 5, 2016; and be it further
RESOLVED, As the timing of the application being submitted to the Parks Department prevented a proper public hearing by Community Board Five in advance of the event, Community Board Five continues to request that the Parks Department extend the minimum notice required of event applications, to ensure that they can be heard at a public hearing.
