12 West 27th Street at Broadway, SoulCycle 27th Street, LLC, application for a special permit for a physical culture establishment
At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, September 11, 2014, the Board passed the following resolution by a vote of 35 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining.
WHEREAS, The applicant seeks a Special Permit from New York Board of Standards and Appeals to operate as a Physical Culture Establishment at 12 West 27th Street; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will be operated as SoulCycle, a non-membership cycling studio, which includes approximately sixty-five(65) bicycles, locker rooms, reception area, a laundry room, and a retail sales area; and
WHEREAS, The premises is situated on the street-level of an existing 18-story building located on 27th Street between 6th Avenue and Broadway in the Madison Square North District; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will occupy 3,340 sq. ft. of space street-level, and 3,068 sq. ft. at the cellar-level; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will be entered directly from street level on 27th Street; and
WHEREAS, The hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 5:30 am to 11:00 pm and 7:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday; and
WHEREAS, The proposed establishment will be fully compliant with ADA requirements, including accessible restrooms and showers; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will include sound abatement to ensure that there is no sound impact on the residential building; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application by SoulCycle for a Special Permit to operate a physical culture establishment at 12 West 27th Street, between 6th Avenue and Broadway.
