12 West 27th Street, Evolution Muay Thai LLC, application for a physical culture establishment on the 2nd floor
At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, May 08, 2014, the Board passed the following resolution by a vote of 35 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining.
WHEREAS, The applicant seeks a Special Permit from the New York Board of Standards and Appeals to operate as a physical culture establishment (PCE), at 12 West 27th Street; and
WHEREAS, The PCE will be operated as Evolution Muay Thai, a local gym that provides its patrons with martial arts and exercise instruction and facilities for conditioning and strength training; and
WHEREAS, The Premises is situated on the second floor of an 18-story building located on 27th Street between 6th Avenue and Broadway in the Madison Square North District of Manhattan; and
WHEREAS, The establishment would occupy a space of 5,000 square feet with 3,000 square feet utilized for the establishment; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will be entered directly from the elevator on the second floor; and
WHEREAS, The hours of operation will be seven days a week from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm; and
WHEREAS, The establishment is taking steps, including installing charcoal filters, to ensure that odors from the establishment do not move throughout the building to other offices contained therein; and
WHEREAS, The proposed establishment will be fully compliant with all ADA requirements; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application by Evolution Muay Thai for a Special Permit to operate a physical culture establishment at 12 West 27th Street.
