Application for 895 Broadway (19th and Broadway), Equinox, to extend term of special permit to allow a physical culture establishment
WHEREAS, Equinox (the applicant), located at 895 Broadway, seeks to extend their permit to allow a physical culture establishment in portion of the cellar, first, mezzanine and second floors of an existing commercial building, including the conversion of office space currently occupied to a weight training area; and
WHEREAS, The applicant was previously granted a waiver in 2005 for their existing culture establishment; and
WHEREAS, The applicant seeks to convert 1000 square feet of current Equinox office space into a weight training area, but does not anticipate any new noise, increased music volume, or foot traffic as a result; and
WHEREAS, The hours of operation; locker rooms, and other facilities are staying the same; and
WHEREAS, The applicant has arranged professional trash removal, and will performing all construction in a manner that will not adversely impact traffic outside of their building; and
WHEREAS, There have been no complaints about this establishment, and the applicant has a solid reputation as a good operator throughout the district. In addition, no members of the public came to speak about this application; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application to allow Equinox, at 895 Broadway, to extend the term of their special permit to allow a physical culture establishment.
