Blink Fitness / 1065 Avenue of the Americas (between West 40th and West 41st Streets), application for a physical culture establishment
At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, April 10, 2014, the Board passed the following resolution by a vote of 33 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining.
WHEREAS, An application was made by Blink Fitness for a special permit to operate a physical culture/health spa establishment within a 35-story commercial building in a C5-3 zoning district and located at 1065 Avenue of the Americas; and
WHEREAS, The establishment would occupy 18,868 square feet within the cellar as well as 765 square feet on the ground floor with an elevator to provide handicapped accessibility to the cellar level; and
WHEREAS, The public view of the facility will only be of the small entrance area on the ground floor; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will have a entrance specific to the operation and separate from the entrance used by other building tenants; and
WHEREAS, Blink has a number of other facilities in Manhattan which are judged to be professional in nature and meet the guidelines as set for establishments of this kind; and
WHEREAS, The hours of operation will be on Monday through Thursday between 5:00 am and 11:00pm, Friday from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm; and
WHEREAS, All staff members are required to be licensed and certified professionals; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application by Blink Fitness for a physical culture/health spa establishment at 1065 Avenue of the Americas.
