Application from the New York City Parks Department for “Odyssey Day,” a display and speaking program regarding alternatively-fueled vehicles, in the North Plaza of Union Square Park on Thursday, October 10, 2013
At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, October 10, 2013, the following resolution passed with a unanimous vote of 38 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining:
WHEREAS, The New York City Parks Department ("Applicant") has submitted a permit application to hold "Odyssey Day," a display and speaking program regarding alternatively-fueled vehicles, in the North Plaza of Union Square Park on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, Applicant presented an acceptable plan for the use of the North Plaza that does not interfere with the Greenmarket or the customary and regular use of the Park; and
WHEREAS, The event was held in 2011 and created no interference with park operations and use, and received no registered complaints from the public; and
WHEREAS, Appropriate plans have been made by the Applicant for set-up commencing at 8:00 a.m. and breakdown completed by 2:00 p.m.; and
WHERSAS, The Union Square Partnership has been presented with the plans for the event and has raised no objection, having received assurances that there will be compliance with park regulations; and
WHEREAS, The event is provided to the public free of charge with no commercial sponsorship, signage, amplified sound, or sale of goods; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application from the New York City Parks Department for "Odyssey Day," a display and speaking program regarding alternatively-fueled vehicles, in the North Plaza of Union Square Park on Thursday, October 10, 2013.
