Sisa Pakari Cultural Center's proposal for a cultural festival in the north plaza of Union Square Park on June 24, 2012
WHEREAS, Sisa Pakari Cultural Center has submitted an application to conduct an all-day music and cultural festival in the north plaza of Union Square Park on June 24, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The festival would take place between the hours of 12:30 PM and 4:00 PM, with set-up beginning at 10:00 AM and breakdown completed by 5:00 PM; and
WHEREAS, The festival was conducted in 2004 in the same location, as well as in 2001 in Bryant Park, with no known complaints or problems at the time; and
WHEREAS, The festival would feature musical and dance performances by local and international artists, would be geared towards families, and would be free of charge; and
WHEREAS, The festival has the support of the Union Square Partnership; and
WHEREAS, The applicant displayed willingness to work with committee suggestions and the Union Square Partnership in planning the event; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of Sisa Pakari Cultural Center's proposal for a cultural festival in the north plaza of Union Square Park on June 24, 2012.
The above resolution passed by a vote of 30 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining.
