Application from the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation for "The Rhythms of One World 2012 International Choral Festival" in Herald Square on Friday, June 29, 2012.
WHEREAS, The Friendship Ambassadors Foundation ("Applicant") has submitted an application to hold "The Rhythms of One World 2012 International Choral Festival" in Herald Square on Friday, June 29, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Applicant is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to promote choral performance by producing free musical events; and
WHEREAS, The event will consist of two high-caliber, international choirs, The Norwegian Girls Choir, with approximately 48 singers, and the University of Newcastle Chamber Choir, with approximately 22 singers; and
WHEREAS, The event is part of a week-long international choral festival celebrating cultural diversity and mutual understanding through choral singing, culminating in events at the United Nations; and
WHEREAS, Each choir will perform for thirty minutes, singing choral folk music with no sound equipment or instruments, nor a stage; and
WHEREAS, Performances will take place from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with set-up beginning at 12:30 PM, and clean-up to be completed by 2:30 PM; and
WHERAS, Applicant has worked closely with the 34th Street Partnership staff to organize the event; and
WHEREAS, The event will be open to the public and free of charge; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the Friendship of Ambassadors Foundation's application to hold "The Rhythms of One World 2012 International Choral Festival" in Herald Square on Friday, June 29, 2012.
