Application #N 160089 ZAM - Request from Union 16 Parking LLC, operator of a parking garage at 110 East 16th Street, to renew an Authorization that has existed since 1960 that allows for a public parking garage with a capacity of 200 vehicles

WHEREAS, Union 16 Parking LLC seeks a renewal of their Authorization granted pursuant to Zoning Resolution ("ZR") Section 11-411, to operate a public parking garage; and

WHEREAS, The renewal will allow for the continued use of existing parking garage that is due to expire on March 8, 2016; and

WHEREAS, The Project Site is located at 110 East 16th Street, which consists of a single lot (Lot 74) on Block 871; and

Whereas, The site is located in a C6-2A zoning district and contains 6,600 sqft of lot area with a frontage of approximately 65 feet along East 16th Street; and

WHEREAS, The garage contains 196 parking spaces and 8 reservoir spaces within 45,008 sqft of parking area; and

WHEREAS, The application is sought to renew the existing garage, providing 196 parking spaces and eight reservoir spaces; and

WHEREAS, The proposed renewal application would include 25 bicycle spaces pursuant to ZR 36-711 and the existing curb cut would be narrowed to 35 feet to centralize access to the facility from street and improve pedestrian safety; and

WHEREAS, No changes in the proposed operation of the facility are proposed; therefore be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of an application by Union 16 Parking LLC for renewal of their authorization allowing for a public parking garage at 110 East 16th Street.
