New Yorkers for Parks Platform 2013

At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, July 11, 2013, the following resolution passed with a unanimous vote of 37 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining; 1 present but not entitled to vote:

WHEREAS, New Yorkers for Parks (NY4P) is a citywide independent organization championing quality parks and open spaces for all New Yorkers in all neighborhoods for over 100 years; and

WHEREAS, The organization is putting forth a set of recommendations, NY4P's Parks Platform 2013, to bring attention to issues pertaining to New York City's parks during the current election season; and

WHEREAS, The Platform is based not only on NY4P research and analysis, but also incorporates feedback from more than 100 park advocates from every borough at their April, 2013 Town Hall Forum, and calls upon the next administration to focus on the following primary parks issues:   

WHEREAS, Community Board Five shares NY4P's interest in raising awareness about the importance of parks to New York City residents; and

WHEREAS, Community Board 5 enjoys some of the most beautiful, historic and well-used parks in the world, and believes that all New Yorkers are deserving of open space and park amenities; therefore, be it 

RESOLVED, Community Board Five lends its support to NY4P's Parks Platform 2013, and its objective of bringing attention to issues pertaining to New York City's parks during the current election season.
