NY Laughs Inc. for "Laughter in the Park 2012" in Greeley Sq. Park on Sunday, July 22nd.
WHEREAS, NY Laughs Inc. ("Applicant") has submitted an application to hold "Laughter in the Park 2012" in Greeley Square Park on Sunday, July 22, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Applicant is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to promote comedy in New York City by producing free comedy events; and
WHEREAS, The event would consist of short sets of stand-up comedic performances for the duration of the event, and would take place between the hours of 2PM and 4 PM, with set-up beginning at 12:00 PM and breakdown completed by 5:00 PM; and
WHEREAS, Applicant has secured volunteers for the event to help with security and sanitation; and
WHEREAS, The event would make limited use of amplified sound for comedians, with microphones and two portable speakers; and
WHEREAS, The event would not have corporate sponsorship; and
WHEREAS, Community Board Five approved this event in the past, with no complaints or problems at that time; and
WHEREAS, The event would be open to the public and free of charge; and
WHEREAS, Applicant displayed willingness to work with Committee suggestions in planning the event, including an agreement to limit the volume of amplified sound; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application from NY Laughs Inc. to hold "Laughter in the Park 2012" in Greeley Square Park on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
The above resolution passed by a vote of 42 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining.
