Application for a No Parking Zone at the entrance to 417 Park Avenue, located on the south side of East 55th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues.

WHEREAS, The Applicant, 417 Park Avenue, seeks the creation of a No Parking zone in front of the building’s main entrance, which is located on the south side of East 55th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues; and

WHEREAS, The current street plan for this block permits parking on both sides of the street and includes a Citibike dock on the south side of the street; and

WHEREAS, 417 Park Avenue is located across the street from the loading dock and parking garage of 425 Park Avenue, full-block development with 675,000 square feet currently under construction; and

WHEREAS, 417 Park Avenue is the sole residential building on the block; and

WHEREAS, The residents of 417 Park Avenue seek a location to load or unload packages and to pick up and drop off passengers; and

WHEREAS, The neighboring businesses support the Application; and

WHEREAS, No Parking zones for individual residential buildings are appropriate only in extraordinary circumstances; and

WHEREAS, Community Board Five does not believe that the current circumstances warrant the need for the requested designation at this time; therefore be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application for a No Parking
Zone at the entrance to 417 Park Avenue, located on the south side of East 55th Street between
Park and Lexington Avenues.
