Application from Jack Morton Worldwide on behalf of Arm & Hammer for a marketing event in Bryant Park on December 15th-16th, 2018

WHEREAS, Jack Morton Worldwide Agency “Applicant” has submitted an application to hold a marketing event at the Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park (Northwest Corner of Rink Deck) on Saturday, December 15th and Sunday, December 16th, 2018; and WHEREAS, The event would take place between the hours of 11:00 am and 10:00 pm, with set-up beginning at 10pm on December 13th, and breakdown completed by 8am on December 17th; and

WHEREAS, Event will consist of a 40’ x 50’ tent to promote to members of the public the chance to participate in a casting call, for an opportunity to be featured in Arm & Hammer’s 2019 advertising campaign; and WHEREAS, Members of the public can also step into a life-size box of baking soda for a photo opportunity; and will have an additional photo opportunity in front of a 6’ x 7’ x 11’ box of baking soda located by the exit of the tent; and

WHEREAS, Members of the public can also visit a gift station with gift-wrapped boxes of baking soda,
including recipes for using the product at home as part of three different DIY kits: “Play Clay,” “Holiday
Slime,” and “Exfoliating Body Scrub;” and

WHEREAS, The event will include twenty brand ambassadors who will be responsible for welcoming
guests, line management, assisting with registration, assisting at photo/casting stations and distributing
gifts; and

WHEREAS, The event will not have any external amplified sound, but only sound from speakers for
background music inside the tent, consisting of 6x JBL Eon 12 self-powered speakers; and

WHEREAS, The event will include five different versions of signage at various places around the
activation, including duplicates of the “Call to Arms” signage, for a total of seven pull-up banners; 33”w
x 70”h each; and

WHEREAS, Jack Morton will post a sign in the queue line as well as the entrance of the tent with a
disclaimer about photography taking place at the event for marketing purposes, with language that
Community Board Five feels is appropriate and complies with city and state laws; and any people
participating in the casting to call will be required to fill out signed releases; and

WHEREAS, The Bryant Park Corporation has been presented with the plans for the event and has raised
no objection, aside from receiving a commitment from Applicant that queue management will occur off
of the main pathway, to reduce navigation issues in the Park; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application from Jack Morton
Worldwide on behalf of Arm & Hammer for a marketing event in Bryant Park on December 15th-16th,
2018.
