Application by Macy’s Branded Entertainment for a marketing event featuring a life-sized Snow Globe in the north section of Herald Square Park from Friday, December 8th through Tuesday December 11th, 2017
WHEREAS, Macy's (the "Applicant") has submitted an application for a permit for a marketing event featuring a life-sized Snow Globe within Herald Square Park (the "Event"); and
WHEREAS, Attendees will be invited inside to take selfie photographs and send holiday wishes with a shareable digital 180 degree GIF; and
WHEREAS, the Event will take place from Friday, December 8th through Tuesday, December 11th from 9:00 am to 9:00pm each day, with set up commencing Thursday, December 7 at 10:00pm; and
WHEREAS, 6 – 8 people will staff the event each day; and
WHEREAS, The Event will not be using an amplified sound system; nor will there be the use of a sub-woofer nor microphone; and
WHEREAS, The Event will not be making a donation to Herald Square Park; and
WHEREAS, No food items or any other merchandise items will be sold at event; and
WHEREAS, The Event will include marketing signage; however, no plans have been developed yet; and
WHEREAS, There will be a dedicated sanitation team to ensure that the general area is kept clean; and
WHEREAS, Anticipated attendance is expected at 5,000; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application from Macy's Branded Entertainment for a marketing event featuring a life-sized Snow Globe in the north area of Herald Square Park from Friday, December 8 through Tuesday, December 11, 2017, unless specific graphics and signage plans with measurements are submitted to Community Board Five.
