WHEREAS, BLT Steak 52nd Street, LLC d/b/a Café BLT 52 at 135 West 52nd Street has applied for a new unenclosed sidewalk café with 4 tables and 8 chairs; and
WHEREAS, 135 West 52nd Street is not part of a historic district; and
WHEREAS, There are stores and restaurants on both sides of the block; and
WHEREAS, There is 12 feet of sidewalk space in the area between the restaurant and the curb; and
WHEREAS, The restaurant is asking for 4 tables and 8 chairs outside; and
WHEREAS, CB5 cautions BLT not to allow their cafe to creep off of 52nd, since this cafe is located near 61/2 Avenue and could easy drift from the storefront; and
WHEREAS, The hours of operation will be: Sunday-Thursday 11:00am-10:00pm and Friday-Saturday 11:00am-11:00pm; and
WHEREAS, There will be no background music; and
WHEREAS, There is no liquor license yet for this sidewalk café; and
WHEREAS, This application meets the guidelines for sidewalk cafés approved by CB5; therefore be it,
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of BLT Steak 52nd St., LLC d/b/a Café BLT 52 for 4 tables and 8 chairs at 135 West 52nd Street.
