121 Madison Avenue, Nomad Kitchen LLCd/b/a Blank Slate, application for a new unenclosed sidewalk café with 12 tables and 26 chairs.

WHEREAS, 121 Madison Avenue, operating as Blank Slate, has submitted an application seeking permission to install and operate an unenclosed sidewalk café at 121 Madison Avenue; and

WHEREAS, The café will operate between 11 am and 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11 am until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday; and

WHEREAS, The proposed unenclosed sidewalk café would have twelve (12) tables and twenty six (26) chairs for twenty six (26) patrons; and

WHEREAS, The proposed unenclosed sidewalk café would be installed a minimum of 14'9 feet east of the curb, and would allow a minimum of 14'-9" of unobstructed pedestrian sidewalk passage on East 30th
Street; and

WHEREAS, the applicant understands and agreed to meet the changes to their applications as desired by CB5, and

WHEREAS, There will be no additional lighting, signage, or amplified sound; and

WHEREAS, Blank Slate will not serve liquor unless and until it has been granted a license by the SLA; and

WHEREAS, CB5 recommends condensing the sidewalk cafes to five 4-top tables flush against the building wall on East 30th street to avoid the café creeping into the sidewalk and becoming unruly; therefore it be

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of 121 Madison Avenue, D/B/A Blank Slate, application for a new unenclosed sidewalk café unless the applicant revises the plans for the unenclosed sidewalk café to have five (5) four-top tables and twenty (20) chairs for twenty (20) patrons along the wall on East 30th Street, and none along Madison Avenue.
