Millinery Center Synagogue, on West 40th Street, bet. 6 Ave and Broadway, on Friday, June 10th. Clearview Festival.

WHEREAS, Millinery Center Synagogue has applied for a new street fair for a PopUp New York/Street Experience; and

WHEREAS, Community Board Five encourages SAPO to continue an open dialogue to reduce the number of street fairs operating in the district and limit neighborhood impact; and

WHEREAS, Community Board Five is in favor of expanding the city's event calendar so that the neighborhoods will not have their streets dominated with events during the warmest and most desirable months of the year; and

WHEREAS, Community Board Five encourages SAPO within the next 6-9 months to revise the rules for both events on plazas and street events using objective criteria and data, taking into account (a) the impact, both positive (e.g. promotional, civic benefit) and negative (e.g. traffic congestion; economic effect on local businesses; environmental impact) on each neighborhood and pedestrian plaza; (b) the degree of indigenous community involvement and/or sponsorship of such event and (c) for larger events, the collective recommendations of the Community Board, Council Member, Borough President, and relevant Business Improvement Districts; therefore be it

RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends denial of the application for a new street fair by Millinery Center Synagogue for a PopUp New York/Street Experience.
