855 Avenue of the Americas, between 30th and 31st Streets, application to operate a physical culture/health establishment in portions of the cellar and the first floor
At the regularly scheduled monthly meeting of Community Board Five on Thursday, July 10, 2014, the Board passed the following resolution by a vote of 39 in favor; 0 opposed; 1 abstaining.
WHEREAS, An application was made by 855 MRU LLC for a special permit to operate a physical culture or health establishment in portions of the cellar and the first floor of a building to be constructed at 855 Avenue of the Americas; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will be operated by Iowa Sports Management, a manager of health clubs, pools and spas in the tri-state area; and
WHEREAS, The establishment will occupy 15,931 square feet in the cellar and 3,711 square feet on the first floor with three elevators that provide general and handicapped accessibility to the cellar level; and
WHEREAS, All facilities including halls, restrooms and showers will be ADA compliant; and
WHEREAS, The hours of operation will be from Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 9:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm; and
WHEREAS, The applicant has agreed to come before the Committee with any proposal for changes in or extensions to the hours of operation; and
WHEREAS, All staff members will be licensed and certified professionals; therefore be it
RESOLVED, Community Board Five recommends approval of the application by 855 MRU LLC for a physical culture/health spa establishment at 855 Avenue of the Americas.
